NEW MEDIA: S1P2

Imagine, Plan Create.

The future belongs to those who anticipate it.

S1P2 is your opportunity to imagine, plan and create

an online solution to a plausible yet improbable scenario.

Each team will imagine a scenario as the focus of their S1P2 project, then will

plan and create an interactive online solution.

Some challenges:

Adapt, Collaborate, Innovate

Be able to handle uncertainty and a lack of complete knowledge.

Anticipate and allow for changes.

Please remember that you will need to create original material: text, images

and code.

The project must be "interactive", and you should have a particular group of

users in mind.

You have a lot of creative freedom with this assignment, but please read the brief and

the elements of performance carefully.

Introduction S1P2 is divided into two parts, A and B:

A consists of developing and presenting a proposal for

work to be carried out in B

A. Due Wednesday November 6, 2019

8:30AM in Drop box Mede 104

Late assignment receive a grade of 0

B consists of the development of a working prototype of

the proposed project

Due week 13 (Thursday December 5 2019)

Critique in lab

Late assignment receive a grade of 0

S1P2 is a team-based assignment. It is important that you plan your

division of labour, responsibilities, and authorities very carefully.

Consideration must be given to the strengths of each member of the

group. You will be with each other throughout the two phases of the

project.

Overall Project

Concept

This project involves developing a functioning prototype of a Web

site, based on the criteria contained herein.

Part A Part A involves developing a proposal. The proposal must be

presented on paper as well as delivered in a visual presentation to

the instructors, and contain the following components:

? Goals & Objectives

? Creative strategy

? Technical strategy ? Target audience

? Summary

Presentation Due Wednesday November 6,

2019

8:30AM in ecentennial Mede 104

all members MUST be present and participate

in the presentation.

Goals & Objectives

Outline what you plan to achieve and why. Be prepared to defend

your proposal and to validate your strategies.

Creative strategy

Discuss how you will treat the creative aspects of the project.

Include sample visuals to support your written proposal.

Technical strategy

Outline what technical processes, hardware, and software you will

be using and why.

Target audience

Acknowledge who the end users are for this project. What do you

know about them? How will you learn more about their needs?

and how will the structure and interface you are proposing

accommodate them.

Summary

The Summary consists of a closing pitch in which you outline why

you think yours is the right team to undertake such an important

task.

Part A

Requirements

You must create two items for Part A:

1) Presentation

2) Take away proposal

Presentation

Your group must prepare and deliver a presentation of no more

than 10 minutes outlining your solution.

Take Away Proposal

Your group must provide material for the evaluators to review

after your presentation. This material will be in the form of a

written report. We will require a digital copy of your proposal.

You must submit in ewcentennial, to Mede 104.

Part B

Requirements

Part B involves the execution of the project you have proposed in

the form of a functional PROTOTYPE with the entire team involved.

Presentation of the projects will be made to the instructors.

Thursday December 5, 2019 You must submit via Digital

Drop Box, to Mede 101,103,104.

Grading Each part of S1P2 will be marked separately. The Elements of

Performance for each course are outlined below. This is what will

be used to grade your work.

If you have any questions as to what is expected of you by any

particular instructor, refer to their Elements of Performance or ask

them directly.

made this choice:

1. List the target software the audience will employ to use/

perceive the prototype. Give minimum levels/versions.

- marked out of 5

2. List the target hardware the audience will employ to use/

perceive the prototype. Give minimum levels/versions.
